Energy Saving:

The new generation fluorescent tubes provide significant energy savings compared to HID with regards to the light received in return for the power consumed, ballas losses and especially reflector efficiencies.

 

Instant lighting up and light control features:

The length of time it takes for HID lamps to emit light after the first ignition and following power outages presents an important operationg problem especially at mannufacturing plants. There is no such issue in fluorescent systems. This feature makes the utilization of lighting control mechanisms possible (movement detectors turning the lights on and off in fluorescent systems). Energy saving can reach very high levels with these methods.

 

Stable Light:

In terms of lumen stability, the fluorescent tubes have a distinct advantage over HID lamps. Particularly within the first few years of operation the loss of light would reach the level of 20% with HID systems compared to a rate of 5% with fluorescent systems.

This can rise to up to 10% for flourescent systems in later years compared to a rise of over 30% for HID.

Luminaires with HID lamps are powerful sources of light. Due to the low number of luminaires per M2 at facilities arising from this feature, each lamp/ballast failure results in significant lighting issues and requires immediate intervention.

More than one lamp and ballast is used in fluorescent system luminaries. Encountering a failure that will lead to the total breakdown of a luminaire is rare. This feature allows maintenance and repair operations of a company to be conducted in a planned and periodic manner.

 

High Colour Rendering:

Fluorescent solutions have definite advantages over HID solutions in terms of colour rendering in establishments where colour codes are critical.

 

Enviromentally Friendly: 

Mercury vapour is a poisonous gas; fluorescent solutions that are used in equal number of services contain much less mercury than a metal hallide solution. Metal Halides explode due to high pressure at the end of their operationg life. Poisonous gas is then spread around which disturbs the clean air balance of the surrounding environment.

No break occurs in fluorescent lamps unless there is a physical impact and therefore no mercury vapour spreads into the environment.
